CASE 9
“I called the Wells Fargo ethics line and
was fired” -article tells how people working in Wells Fargo had to be scared of
losing their jobs if doing the right thing. Like telling the HR department
about shady actions and to lose a job because of that. It creates a horrible
atmosphere over ones working environment. The same theme is also in the “Wells
Fargo made me work overtime –without extra pay” and “Inside Wells Fargo,
workers say the mood is grim” articles. It is crazy how overtime isn’t paid and
that you need to be scared if you contact the HR department or make a
complaint. Sounds like Wells Fargo doesn’t allow their employees to have a
personal life or any opinions or rights.
In the article “Workers tell Wells Fargo
horror stories” the former employees of Wells Fargo tell how they felt a huge
pressure from the management to reach their daily unrealistic goals which
eventually led to making up users or using their family members names. Which is
insane itself. Would think that the employer should search the faults somewhere
else also at that point than only in their own employees. It must be horrible
when one is doubted so badly in their jobs.
The last article is about the executive of
Wells Fargo stepping aside because of a scandal over sales practices. The bank
is investigating the case that how two million accounts were opened without
customers permission. The executive John Stumpf states that it is better if he
steps aside and will be placed by other managers in the company.
To sum up the Wells Fargo cases it seems like
they are in deep trouble and the laying off employees or scaring them with
firing isn’t doing any good. The threatened atmosphere and the troubles the
company is having is just getting the company deeper and deeper in struggles.
